Whether you work as a florist, or just want to know which days of the year you need to be buying flowers, it’s important to know all the big dates for flowers. This will give you plenty of chance to get your arrangements in order, particularly for big annual events. Here is a list of the most important dates for flowers.

14th February: Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day flowers

Obviously one of the key dates for flowers is Valentine’s Day, with almost everyone in a relationship expecting a big bunch of roses. This is one of the most widely known key dates, so there’s little chance it’ll pass you by. Just make sure you get that special someone a nice bouquet.

1st March: St. David’s Day

This is the day of St David, patron saint of Wales, and so is obviously a big day for daffodils. These beautiful flowers signal the coming of spring, so what better way to brighten up your house after the dreary winter than by celebrating with St David?

8th March: International Women’s Day

Never thought of this as one of the key dates for flowers? Granted, it’s not really, but it’s a good excuse to take advantage of the beginning abundance of spring flowers.

Good Friday and Easter Monday

Easter is another good time for sending flowers, and it really helps to hit home that spring is finally here. The most traditional flowers to display at Easter are tulips, lilies, and daisies, although anything with a bit of colour and the look of spring will definitely do the job.

24th and 25th December: Christmas

Obviously, there aren’t many natural flowers around in winter, but Christmas is still one of the key dates for flowers. Whether you’re throwing up some holly or mistletoe, or creating an amazing lily arrangement, flowers are an expected part of Christmas celebrations, and it’s a great way of getting into the holiday spirit.

There are plenty of important dates for flowers throughout the year, but these are the biggest. However, if you truly appreciate flowers, then every day is an important date for flowers. Sure, if you save them for events they might seem more special, but then you also miss out on seeing the seasons progress simply through the choice of flowers on offer. Why not make every day a key date for flowers?
